| I have no experience with Ford/Robert Black specifically but worked at a top NY agency that holds weekly open calls You need to wear something that clearly shows your bust. waist and hip measurements. The typical model wardrobe is dark skinny jeans or leggings, a fitted tank top, and high heels. You should bring with you a clear headshot and full body shot in a plain black or white bikini - both shot against a plain white wall, facing forward with arms at your sides. Do not try to pose - they are not judging on how well you pose, they just need to see your body proportions. Write your name and phone number on the back in case they want to keep them for reference It really depends how many people show up at an Open Call what you will be asked to do. At my old agency, they were very honest (sometimes brutal) and an agent might have someone come in for 2 seconds and just say "you aren't model material" or "you are too short" or "you aren't what we are looking for". Some agents were nicer and might ask you where you are from, what your name is or how old you are, but it doesn't really go beyond that. Unless they think you have potential (which they know the second you walk in) they won't spend much time with you. If you do have potential, then they may ask to watch you walk, may ask to measure you and will usually take a Polaroid or digital picture of you, then make sure they have your number. Then after the open call, the agent who handled it that week (at my old agency, the agents took turns heading the open call from week to week) would bring the pictures he/she took to the next agency board meeting, show the models they liked, and the board would decide which, if any, got a callback. In my old agency a majority of the agents had to agree to a person getting a callback |

| - No portfolio necessary, unless you are already a working model - You will get called back for a test shoot if they like you; it won't happen that day - An agency can look at you for 30 seconds and know f they want to bring you back - All they want to do is look at you, and they will only talk to you enough to see if you are reasonably professional - At most they make you stand up, and turn around, and maybe walk 5 feet. - It is nothing at all like those modelling competitions on TV - Just be polite, and not too chatty. - The two things that end it for most American girls is their inability to walk well in heels, and their discomfort going braless (models never wear bras when working, unless they are modelling bras). If you show the slightest unease with either of those, you're done. |
